Vibe Coding
Vibe coding is an AI-assisted programming practice where developers describe projects in natural language prompts to Large Language Models, which generate source code automatically. AI researcher Andrej Karpathy, co-founder of OpenAI, coined the term in February 2025, describing it as a way to “fully give in to the vibes, embrace exponentials, and forget that the code even exists.” A defining characteristic is that developers accept AI-generated code without thorough review, relying on iterative feedback to refine results. Collins Dictionary named it Word of the Year for 2025.
